Petal Picking: I love my job, not so much, I love my job, not so much...

This blog is meant to be an account of the daily events of my college internship and a floriculture educational tool. And as much as I want this to focus on the floral industry and the advantages of real world work experience that are offered through participating in an internship, I have a feeling it might become a slightly comical view into my personal life as a tree huggin', plant lovin', flower pickin', dirt diggin' horticulturist... I'll let you be the judge.

Yup, its still the week of March 28th

Open house is HERE!  After the bridal fashion show, the models and brides came back to the store (long after 9pm, wow, longgggg day) for cordials and to preview the store front before it becomes open to the public on Friday.
Friday finally has arrived.  This years open house is featuring our fresh floral designs and linens, two things that not many people know we do.  Each section of the store, and there are 15 sections, was decorated in a different wedding, party and event theme.  We have a tropical section, shabby chic, Tuscan, garden, black tie affair, oriental flair, green scheme, childrens birthday party, vintage, crystal palace, Serengeti, Adirondack, country rustic, strawberry picnic, and beach/seaside.  Each area has a 120 inch round table with a themed linen tablecloth and maybe and overlay and napkins, with a matching fresh floral arrangement set on top or hanging from the ceiling or engineered in some other way.
Saturday, Sunday and Monday were a blur of caterers, venue managers and wait staff, jewelers, event coordinators, wedding planners, bridal shop owners, brides and their bobblehead fiances, and of course our usual customers.
The store is completely decorated for spring and the shelves in the back are totally stocked to the brim with spring faux florals.
This whole week has been Get Up, Go to Work, Come Home, Sleep, Repeat.
Now that this week is finally over, I can finally grade it....
9 Petal Week.  A lot of fun was had despite the crazy hours and tremendous amount of work.
