Petal Picking: I love my job, not so much, I love my job, not so much...

This blog is meant to be an account of the daily events of my college internship and a floriculture educational tool. And as much as I want this to focus on the floral industry and the advantages of real world work experience that are offered through participating in an internship, I have a feeling it might become a slightly comical view into my personal life as a tree huggin', plant lovin', flower pickin', dirt diggin' horticulturist... I'll let you be the judge.

Wednesday March 2 - Design Daisy

I was owned by my design station again today - but today did not have anything to do with fruit... it was all about ribbon!  For years, the company has received shipments of ribbon samples.  Each sample is about a foot in length and we have BOXES of it.  So.... what to do with so many little scraps of ribbon??? David and Mary have the answer!  RIBBON WREATHS.  Time consuming and mindless, they are the perfect task for a still diseased daisy.  7 hours pass and I have 2... and my fingers were flying, they were a blur, and yet just two wreaths, ugh.
You take a regular old wreath ring, double rail, and alternately tie knots of ribbon the whole way around both rails.
