Petal Picking: I love my job, not so much, I love my job, not so much...

This blog is meant to be an account of the daily events of my college internship and a floriculture educational tool. And as much as I want this to focus on the floral industry and the advantages of real world work experience that are offered through participating in an internship, I have a feeling it might become a slightly comical view into my personal life as a tree huggin', plant lovin', flower pickin', dirt diggin' horticulturist... I'll let you be the judge.

Monday Feb. 28th - Cough cough, sniffle sniffle - Diseased Daisy

This dilapidated daisy was in bed alllllll day - sick.  Darn sinus infections, I can practically set my clock to them, 2 a season, I'm due for another before winter's end.
So needless to say - 0 petal day.

By the way... peonies are a popular and prime choice for wedding flowers as of late, but they are very seasonal.  A little trick that florists use to get the perfect flower head on a peonie in time to be the star of a bridal bouquet is to submerge an unopened inflorecense into warm water for a short period of time.  Take the flower head out of the water and gently shake.  Leave out at room temperature in a vase of warm water and by the next day your peonie will be perfect and primed to go down the aisle!
