Petal Picking: I love my job, not so much, I love my job, not so much...

This blog is meant to be an account of the daily events of my college internship and a floriculture educational tool. And as much as I want this to focus on the floral industry and the advantages of real world work experience that are offered through participating in an internship, I have a feeling it might become a slightly comical view into my personal life as a tree huggin', plant lovin', flower pickin', dirt diggin' horticulturist... I'll let you be the judge.

Monday February 7th - Docked Daisy

The store has hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of inventory and I am proud to say that I got to stand within the same 1 square foot tile for eight hours straight and price some of it... I was a docked daisy today, docked at the counter in the receiving portion of the store, as if I had a really strong tap root.  However, from my one square foot of space I learned a little bit about our inventory system: How to input items in the computer, how to price them for our cost, for retail and for wholesale, and how to process and print our own skews.
Being a docked daisy is not as dismal as it sounds though - I am so glad to be back to work, getting things done and having the flow of crispy green again!  Not to mention being back in the company of my bosses and my co-workers...

8 petal day - so happy to be back
